Infor’s CEO Charles Phillips announced at a keynote address for 500 VISUAL users at VISUAL Connect in New Orleans Tuesday, that VISUAL users now have a choice of staying on VISUAL’s current SQL Windows architecture, a platform that will continue to be enhanced and supported indefinitely, or moving to Infor’s Cloudsuite Business product, one of Infor’s new “Infor Xi” cloud-based solution set. http://www.infor.com/company/news/pressroom/pressreleases/InforXi/
Infor Cloudsuite Business will have several major areas of VISUAL incorporated into it such as the Manufacturing Window, Scheduling & Throughput Windows, EasyLean, and Actual Costing functionality.
This new option eliminates the previous mandate for companies to undergo what was a forced upgrade to a different technology platform – VISUAL 8.0 on Mongoose. Instead, customers wanting to move to the cloud and still retain what they know and love in VISUAL, will be able to utilize the VISUAL functionality that will be incorporated into Cloudsuite Business by mid to late 2015.
Directly following the announcement, Infor VISUAL Product Manager Rich Lagoy announced many new enhancement initiatives for VISUAL’s next release in Productivity, In-depth Functionality, and Scalability including many enhancement requests from local and National User Groups.
It is important to know that VISUAL’s current platform, SQLWindows, is a fully supported and enhanced application development environment. Many Fortune 500 companies use SQLWindows to quickly and easily develop their own applications: AT&T, Citibank, Ford Motor Company, US Navy, Walgreens, and more. SQLWindows 6.2 (now slated for a future release of VISUAL) allows code to be compiled directly into .NET code. There is also a browser based version of SQLWindows (TD Mobile) that allows a user to quickly and easily write a native web-based app: http://www.guptatechnologies.com/Products/App_Dev/TDMobile/default.aspx
We understand that this new direction may be a relief, or a disappointment depending upon your previous preparations, or lack thereof, with regards to moving to VISUAL 8.0 on Mongoose. We expect Infor to issue more information and their own calls or meetings very soon to help you understand the roadmaps for both tracks described above.
We would welcome having a call and/or visit with you and your company to further assist in assimilating this information and what it means to your future with Infor VISUAL ERP. With kind regards,
